Sue Perry, disaster scientist, Science Application for Risk Reduction (SAFRR), U. S. Geological Survey. Sue specializes in finding new and more effective ways to communicate science to non-scientists. She has enjoyed the role of liaison with Art Center on numerous projects and thinks that creative fields are essential to improve the understanding and use of science. Much of Sue’s work involves collaborations with social and behavioral scientists, public health leaders, urban planners, emergency managers, and communities. Sue is also a published novelist who teaches the popular course “Natural Disasters” at Pasadena Community College, and was formerly a low budget television producer. She is a southern Californian.
