Tanya Paz
SOM/MASS Design GroupA Los Angeles native, Tanya began her work with MASS Design Group to help build their US practice and focus on using design methodologies to improve our domestic healthcare system, Tanya lead the development team and served as a design lead on a variety of projects including the Community Hospital of the Future in New York, the final phases of work with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Recently returning to Los Angeles, Tanya transitioned into an advisory role with MASS and joined the team at SOM Los Angeles aiding with the design and development of the city’s new Federal Courthouse in Downtown Los Angeles.
Tanya’s work has taken her through Latin America, most notably as a Fulbright Scholar funded to evaluate the Valparaiso School and Open City Group’s process as a model for architecture and planning in resource limited settings. Tanya has also previously worked with Mansilla and Tunon Arquitectura in Madrid, the Architecture and Design Curatorial Team at MoMA, and with a variety of health care research teams.
Born in Santiago, Chile, Tanya received her Bachelors of Art from Tufts University and her Masters in Architecture from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design.
Tanya has lectured at UCLA and U.T. Austin and serves on the Board of Directors at Rail LA where she seeks to test new models for funding community driven design work.
